Non-Fiction

The Hole in the Gospel by Richard Stearns
This was one of the books for Bible Study this semester.  I have to say that it is changing my life and my families life.  I have always been aware of the needs in the world but I have never considered the fact that I am not living out the Gospel of Jesus.  Stearns presents the needs of the world in way that you can only be touched to open your heart to where God will lead you.  I am loving this journey of discovery I am on all because of this book.  How can I change the world?

The Price of Stones by Twesigye Jackson Kaguri
Okay, I admit that I read this one last fall but I will say that The Price of Stones started me on my journey in trying to find out how I can change the world.  This true story of Twesigye's life and the journey he took to begin Nyaka Aids Orphan School really touches the soul.  There is so much poverty and hurt in the world that you only want to help in any way that you can.  As a result of reading this book and wanting to do more we held a Grandmother's Basket party at my work right before Christmas.  We were able to raise around $800 for the grandmothers.

Fiction

Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda
This book sticks with the theme of social justice in the world even though it is fiction.  The story takes place part in India and in the United States.  You learn about the genocide of infant girls, orphanages full of unwanted girls, adoption processes and the difference of class systems.  The story centers around 2 families unknown to each other yet related by the birth of one little girl.  I highly recommend this book and do not want to give any details away.  I cannot wait for her next book.
